Misc. Items @ WB4IUY/AC4QD

As always, there's little bits and pieces in every hamshack that don't really fit any category, but of part of the every day operations. You can look at the picture on the right and see many such items, here.


These items range from CW Key, reference books, clocks, and more. I'll add pics of these items from time to time, and this is what I've photographed so far...

Digital Picture Frame

This is a neat way to display your QSLs in the shack. As opposed to piles of cards sitting packed away in card files, or covering your walls in plastic display packs, I scan my cards and load them into this unit. It can hold literally thousands of cards. I also download my digital QSL cards from eQSL and load them in as well. It's easy to use, and works great!

Wallpaper

Like many hams, I've got piles of this paper around, from operations since 1974. I'm still scanning these for my digital picture frame, so I have quite a few on display on the walls in my shack.

World Map & Pin Board

I fabricated this many years ago... it is a full size ARRL world map. I built a frame large enough to hold the map, and installed a backing made of a piece of Celotex ceiling tile. I push pins into it, each time I work a new country. The computer tracks this stuff, but this is a bit nostalgic or 'old school' for me, and I enjoy doing it.

Tymeter 24 Hour Clock

This is an 'Oldie Goldie', dating back to sometime in the 1950's. This neat piece still runs, and keeps perfect time. To be a mechanical clock, I think that's pretty amazing!

Motorola Metal Speaker

This is another 'Oldie Goldie', dating back to sometime in the 1960's. This Motorola speaker sounds great, and is in a metal enclosure that looks brand new. It rotates service on various rigs.

Cold 807

Every Ham needs a 'cold 807' from time to time. From WAY back, a cold beer was called "an 807" by hams. This was made for me as a gift from my friend and ham Glen KD4BSP, and has been in my shack since the early 90's.

Speed-X Straight Key

This is an old Speed-X straight key that was given to me many years ago by friend and ham Peter N4SXG (now SK). I use it from time to time on straight key night, and keep it connected to my 2m SSB rig most of the time.

Bencher Paddles

I love these Iambic paddles. They are usually connected to the IC-756, but I also use them on the other rigs from time to time. They have a great feel and are easy to use. They were a parting gift from a company I used to work for, and were picked out by then co-worker and still friend and ham Garry KG4D.

JPS NIR-10

This is a great DSP noise reduction unit from now defunct JPS communications. I use it on my older rigs to 'modernize' them, and it does a good job of audio noise reduction.

Micronta Voltmeter

This is a simple tool, and it stays connected to my DC Power Supply bus, so I can keep an eye on voltage at all times.
