NEW CD - SUMMER 2002

After recording a full length CD back in April of 2001, Iris is finally in the last phases of mixing
it all down. We hope to release the cd this summer.

IT'S A BOY!

Sarah Glasco, lead singer and cellist, welcomed the birth of her first son, Quinn, on June 12th 2001. Quinn was eagerly greeted after nine months of grueling hormones and early shows.

OLD NEWS:

Dave does interview with Chapel Hill News.

Dave recently did an interview with Chapel Hill News arts and entertainment writer, Phil Venable, concerning the the house show phenomena.  As you know, Iris has long been a part of the local house scene sponsoring the Yoshfests and Day of the Dead parties.  For the full article check out the press page.

MORE INTERVIEWS!

Josh also got his chance to be in the spot light. For his interview with NBC-17 local music correspondent Larry Pickett, check (you guessed it) the press page.

SARAH'S RETURN!

Well, Sarah's return to the US is drawing near, June 25th to be exact.  She'll be missing the stereolab/sonic youth show in Raleigh on the 24th but we really can't blame her for that now can we?  Kaeri, Dave, and Josh have been pulling their hair out in anticipation.  We've already started booking - the first show is just 3 days after her return.  (see the schedule)  In the next few months expect lots of new music from IRIS as we move on to this new chapter of our existence.

IRIS TO PLAY LOCAL 506 MAY 3.

IRIS front woman Sarah Glasco will be traveling to the United States from Montpellier, France late April through early May.  IRIS is scheduled to play at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill NC on May 3.  This will be IRIS' first show since Glasco took a teaching position at Universite' Paul Valery in August 1999.  Glasco will return to the states permanently in July 2000 at which point IRIS will resume its normal touring schedule.

IRIS was formed in December of 1997 and features vocalist Sarah Glasco on cello and rhythm guitar, Kaeri Johnson on drums and percussion, Dave Schall on guitar, and Josh Sokal on bass.  IRIS' music falls under the self-proclaimed 'noise-pop' genre.  Influences include Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and the GoGo's.  Their first album In all of us released by Reckless Ferret Records in December 1998 received critical acclaim in local and regional press.  Their second album, as yet untitled, is due to be released summer 2000.

Iris vocalist Sarah Glasco is currently teaching the French to speak english and is making a lucrative living selling Levi's on the blackmarket.  She will return around the middle of next year to resume her role as Iris' front woman.  While she's away, Iris is keeping their creative juices flowing by mailing 4-track demos of new material back and forth between Pittsboro, North Carolina, USA and MontPellier, France.

Before she left,  Iris layed out drum, vocal, cello, and violin tracks for all their previously
unrecorded material (17 songs). While she's away, guitarist Dave Schall and bassist Josh Sokal will overdub like mad men.  Look for a short EP on cassette and CD-R around the beginning of the new year and a full length release when Sarah returns.

Keep a watch on the schedule page for various Iris member side-project appearances and other Iris related events.
