rsg-nc pinehurst outing
It started awhile ago, these little regional get-togethers. For the uninitiated, rsg stands for rec.sport.golf, a usenet newsgroup populated by various and sundry denizens who's (supposedly) genuine interest in golf brings them together for discussions and the such. From such humble beginnings did rsg-texas (compliments of Mark Koenig) begat rsg-ga at Callaway Gardens, which begat the first rsg-nc (North Carolina) in the worst cold spell to pass through NC in years, which begat *TWO* rsg-ohios which has begotten this:
******** rsg-nc pinehurst outing********
When: February 14 and 15, 1998
Where: Mid-Pines Inn utilizing Mid-Pines and Pine Needles golf courses in Southern Pines, NC (a "suburb" of Pinehurst)
Why: Because... we want to have FUN!!!!! This is NOT a tourney, but there could be some prizes, we are working on that (Hint, Hint: If anyone knows of some generous commercial sponsors...)
Details: A person can stay the weekend at the Mid-Pines Resort (details below) or commute to the course and pay up to $85 each day for a round of golf at two Donald Ross Courses, one of which (Pine Needles) hosted the US Women's Open in 1996, won by Annika Sorenstam and hosting it again in 2001. We have set aside 24 tee times between 9:20 and 10:00 AM on both days. WALKING IS ALLOWED AND ENCOURAGED!!!
E-Mail Me: email@example.com and let me know of your intent. I have held these spots via my own personal credit card and I will be expecting pre-payment prior to the event (can you say redundant, I knew you could) if you are commuting to the course. I will expect that once we have a concrete rate for the commuters. I will be canceling out unused tee times 1 week prior to the event.
Mid-Pines Inn & Golf Club

This package is 3 days, two nights, unlimited golf all three days, range balls, bag handling and storage, room accommodations, dinner on arrival day, breakfast/dinner on day 2, and breakfast on departure day. JACKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR DINNER! They have a storage area for guests who have checked out but are playing so that luggage need not be compromised.

Superior Rooms: $290 (dbl occ)/$370 (single occ)/$150 (non-golfer)

WHEN YOU CALL FOR RESERVATIONS, ASK FOR CAROL!!! SHE KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!
