Thanksgiving, 2000
Balsam, NC
room, halls, dining
The hallways at the Inn are lined with art and craft... all for sale.  There's a small gift shop with clothes and mountain crafts.
Our room was comfy.  Huge king-size bed.  Everything else was antiquey old, including some of the plumbing in the bathroom.  Heat is from old fashoned radiators, and at least during our stay, the heat in the rooms was turned off during the day.  That encouraged hanging out in the library or the lobby, by the fire.

And you had to get up early to get a hot shower.

and below is an extention of the dining room, where we had breakfast each day.  Breakfast is included in the room price.
Here's the big dining room, and the family ready for Thanksgiving dinner, which was great.
This is one day's breakfast -  bacon and eggs, fruit, and that square, orange thing on the right.
In the south, they call it Grits.  Up north, there's another name.
Library paste.
