Saturday, the rain quit, and I could actually take a picture outside.
Here's the Hara main entrance.
It was a little less crowded inside, because everyone was outside in
the flea market
The flea market goes on forever.
I thought maybe I could assemble my original station, in pictures,
for the boatanchors being sold.
I got as far as the transmitter, a Heathkit DX-100. I'll have
to keep looking.
This "county hunter" map (with a pin in each county a ham attended
from) gives a pretty good idea of the geographic distribution of the hams
attending the fest. Somebody had already put a pin in Wake County.
But I didn't run into very many NC hams.
Dayton pictures always include somebody wearing something
wacky. For 2001, this was it. People stopped N8VES to take
his picture every few feet he walked. Even me. He earned it, and
it's all part of the fun.
On the other hand...
I came to Dayton mostly to participate in the PR forum and activities.
That's my specialty. I'm now on the ARRL national PR committee.
Our job is to help put out a positive impression of Amateur Radio to the
rest of the world, through the media....
