CATS!

Stephanie Pearce  1986-2003

November 21, 2003.  We said goodbye to Stephanie after 17 years.  We had lots of names for her - Muffin, Muffinizer, Muffinator, Monster, Miss Priss, Puff and... Shredder, with this picture offered as evidence of the latter (circa 1987).  At the vet, she aquired a new name: Granny.  Oh, we could see she was getting on in years, but she was always really still a kitten to us.

Stephanie and her sister Phoebe started life as a barn-cats in western Kentucky.  Cyndi rescued them when they were just a few weeks old.  They've both been in the lap of luxury since, and knew they deserved it.

Phoebe Pearce  1986-2004
April 2, 2004.  Today was Phoebe's turn to rest.   She stayed with us as long as she could, a few months longer than her sister.  She liked being petted by foot (foot-kitty).  Didn't like being picked up, and wouldn't sit in your lap.  But one night, around when this picture was taken in 1999, I taught her to climb up on my tummy while I was lying in bed, and that's where she went to sleep every night since (tummy kitty).

The house feels empty today, but it will be full of life again soon.
