SNOW DAY!
Almost 20" of snow on January 25, 2000


Yes, this is North Carolina... and not the mountains where there's sometimes enough snow to ski.  The RDU airport is showing 18" and it's still falling.  Here's what it looks like around our house on January 25, 2000.

And it's been windy.  This is a drift piled up next to my car.  Time to move farther south?

It was beautiful... but some people can't leave well enough alone... dig they must!
Cyndi and our neighbor Kevan break out the shovels.  (Gary's recovering from a bad cold, and can't play in the snow).

 

In the afternoon, the sun came out, the sky turned blue... and the street remained undisturbed by tire tracks.  It's supposed to stay cold for days, so this snow may be with us a while.  Good thing we've got all that Y2K food standing by!
