Preface

In a nutshell, there are so many questions regarding hardware configuration of Oracle servers and the resulting impact on performance, availability, and cost that a section dedicated to configuration examples is being added. The most frequently asked question is "how much server do I need?" While there is no single configuration that will work for every installation, the intention is that these configuration models can be used for comparison and as starting points in configuring your own installation to meet your organization's goals.
