It's a very simple game. All you need is a wadded up sheet of paper, and a human to throw it. You , the cat , can either BAT it ,CATCH it, or CHASE it. The human loves it when I BAT the sheet right back to her, because this requires very little exertion on her part! And I can hit those homeruns with no trouble at all! They don't call me "The Babe" for nuttin'! And while I love to show off my batting expertise, the human doesn't get much exercise this way. All she has to do is catch it and pitch it back to me. . When I CATCH the sheet, it's far more strenous for the human! She'd never make it pitching in the big leagues! Sometimes I have to be a contortionist to catch one of her terrible throws, leaping and twisting high into the air! Or when a particularly high sheet comes at me I might have to jump onto a piece of furniture to make the catch. I once flew off the back of a chair , caught the sheet in the air, and turned a flip, landing on my belly. Wow! Quite spectacular!
![]() After I either catch or, very rarely, miss the sheet, the human has to walk over, bend down and pick it up, then walk back for another pitch. This wears her out after awhile, but I won't let her quit until I'm completely exhausted. "Aren't you getting tired, pumpkin?" she'll ask. Who? Me? When she's finally too pooped to throw another sheet, she'll ask Dad to take over. Now we're talkin'! Dad throws a fast sheet! Actually, I think he just wants to wear me down quickly so he can plop back in his chair. It's also fun, and great exercise , to CHASE the sheet! You can exercise BOTH humans at the same time. One of them throws the sheet down the hall or across the room, and I run after it and bat it around for awhile and stop. Then the human at the other end of the hall, or across the room, bends over and picks it up, and throws it in the other direction, and I zip off that way. I have to admit this gets awfully tiring after awhile, and when I've had enough, I flop over onto my back and close my eyes. The humans are usually relieved, but sometimes when they're unusually energetic, and having fun, they beg me to get up and play some more! To sum up, the sheet game is beneficial to everyone. It's a great way for me to blow off some steam, while the humans get some much needed exercise! So make those lazy humans get up out of those chairs and start throwing the sheets!
