I have developed a communication technique that I call Katt Sign Language (KSL). While Mom is adept at interpreting our verbal and non-verbal communication, my poor Dad was totally lost. For example, if I stood by the food bowl, he would pet me!

In order to make all our lives easier, I developed KSL signs to help him out. Here is a short list:

  • If I put my hand on the top of my head and make short, forward strokes, I expect him to pet me.
  • If I put my hand next to my mouth and make short, forward strokes, it means I want him to feed me.
  • If I put my hand at the side of my face and make a long, forward stroke, it means I want him to pick me up and pet me.
It took him a while to catch on, but he is very pleased with his progress!
