FOOD

When it comes to food, I didn't really have to train my humans. Maybe I should give credit to my predeccesor, Keebler the Wonder Kitty, for training them for me. By the time I came on the scene they already knew the ropes. I hear that Keeb was a "finicky" eater. He had to have human food. He even liked vegetables! Yuk! I did try "human" food once when I was a wee kitty, but after almost choking to death on a piece of steak fat, that was it!!! They can keep it! I guess I just have simple tastes.

I'm not picky at all, myself. When I was purchased I came with a free bag of Iams, and that has remained my brand of choice. I do like a change of flavors now and then, though. When I get tired of a particular flavor I let the humans know it! I scatter the food all over the floor and bat it around , or when they're filling my bowl, I look up at them with complete digust , then walk away.

image I never bother the humans when they're eating dinner. All I ask is that my bowl be kept FULL at all times!!! It makes me nervous when I can see the bottom ! So when I want it "topped off" I sit by the bowl and look at the humans with my "sweet" look. Usually they immediately fill it to the brim! If this doesn't work I use the vocal approach. A few blood-curdling yowls will always get their attention!

And I do love my Pounce! All I have to do is look bored or sad, and the humans will start shaking the little cardboard can, while doing that obnoxious "kitty, kitty, kitty" routine. Sheesh! Is this supposed to make it taste better or something? They will finally proceed to pour out two or three of the little treats. Gosh, you'd think the things were made out of gold, the way they horde them !

imageWhen the humans go away and leave me with a cat-sitter I get special canned treats , like Amore and Fancy Feast ! I love this stuff, and I gulp it down so fast that it usually comes right back up, if you know what I mean :) The sitters always worry that I'm sick, but Mommy assures them that I'm just a little pig. When the folks do return from their jaunts they feel guilty about leaving me, so all I have to do is holler a lot and rub up against Mommy's leg, and she'll open up a can of the "junk" food. I do this just to let her know that if I WANT something, I'm going to HAVE it! I really prefer my Iams. I get kind of tired of throwing up all the time :)

We all know that our humans just want to please us in every way possible. And let's face it, keeping the bowl full requires very little exertion on their part. It's one of the easiest ways for them to show us their love, and we benefit from this by getting what we want. And in some cases, I'll admit to it, we do tend to get too fat !
