Bedtime and Beyond

It is extremely important to let the human know that YOU rule the bedroom ! YOU control the bed, and YOU decide when "wake-up time" will be! I like to change my early-morning routine every so often, usually with the seasons. All winter I had my human trained to get up with me between four and five o'clock AM. My favorite method of waking my mom up is to get up on the dresser and knock her knick-knacks off. Hehe....she can't stand this! She always pops right out of bed and follows me downstairs to fill up my bowl, open the curtains for me, and shove a stupid toy at me. She does this so daddy won't wake up. He gets very angry when I wake him up before six o'clock.

Recently I have changed my routine somewhat. I've been sleeping in the closet instead of the bed. This makes them wonder if I'm mad at them, and they beg their little pumpkin to come to bed. Well, I like change now and then, and daddy sure has been snoring awfully loud lately! It's rather cozy and quiet in the closet.

I've also changed wake-up time to between two and three o'clock. Well, mommy doesn't like this AT ALL!! She was so used to the five o'clock call, and she hates change. I also vary my wake-up methods. One I especially like is pulling books out of the bookcase...guaranteed to wake up her up! For this I usually get the squirt bottle treatment a couple of times. Then after she goes back to sleep I get up on her night stand and fiddle with whatever happens to be on it , glasses, the alarm clock, a glass of water . She tries petting me then, and I'll take this for awhile. Then when I've had enough I'll run around and holler at the top of my lungs! Hehe...this even wakes daddy up , and he hollers right back at me. So, to keep daddy happy, mommy is finally starting to adapt to this new routine, after a couple of weeks. It's so easy, really, to get the human to jump at your command!
