Should consist of two (2) bottles, each with a completed bottle ID form attached by a rubber band, and accompanied by a completed entry form and payment. A third bottle may be submitted, if desired. (Meads may be submitted in a single champagne-style bottle.)

Bottles: Each bottle must be plain glass, brown or green, 10 to 16 ounces in volume, and crown capped. Bottles and caps must be free of anything which is sufficiently unique that it could identify a brewer to a judge. This may include raised lettering, labels, unique bottle shapes or the like. No swing-top bottles. Bottle caps should have any distinguishing marks completely blacked out. (Use of brown, long-neck, 12 oz. bottles is encouraged but not required.) Bottles not meeting these guidelines will be disqualified, and ineligible for award. (They may be judged at the discretion of the competition organizers.) NOTE: Reusable containers, including "Carbonator" type devices CAN NOT be returned.

North Carolina Homebrewer of the Year: This is the first competition in the series leading to the 1999 North Carolina Homebrewer of the Year award (the others being the TRUB Open sponsored by the TRiangle's Unabashed homeBrewers, and the U.S. Open sponsored by the Carolina Brewmasters). North Carolina Homebrewer of the Year is awarded to the North Carolina homebrewer who receives the greatest number of points, earned by placing in the three annual North Carolina competitions. Contact the Shamrock organizers for more information. Additionally, placing in the Shamrock Open qualifies a brewer to compete in the Southeastern Homebrewer of the Year competition, and is a great warm-up for the first round AHA Nationals!
